Douglas Adams, Jr.

Douglas L. Adams, Jr. has been practicing law in Kansas since 1993. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, 10th Circuit. A graduate of Kansas University School of Law in 1993, Doug originally served as a State Public Defender from 1994 to 1996. Thereafter, in 1996, he joined Richard Ney at the time of this law firmís formation. Doug is an active litigator who has spent his career dedicated to a relentless pursuit of liberty and fairness for individuals who have had the misfortune of being accused of crimes. Doug has a strong reputation for getting the best possible result in every case he handles.

Doug has an extensive history of achievement before all court levels throughout the State of Kansas and elsewhere. Representative samples of success include a recent federal court diversion (an extremely rare event in federal court) obtained for an individual charged with bankruptcy fraud, a career offender drug offense with the defendant facing 25 to 30 years of incarceration reduced to 4 years, and a dismissal based upon a suppression of a massive amount of cocaine illegally seized by law enforcement. Recent state court achievements in various jurisdictions around Kansas include a Geary County jury acquittal across the board of in excess of 30 drug charges and a jury acquittal for residential burglary and theft in Sedgwick County district court. In city court, the list is nearly endless with acquittals and dismissals in virtually every kind of municipal court ordinance violation possible. Over the course of his legal career, Doug has procured dismissals and acquittals in the most serious of cases that exist in the state or federal court including a dismissed 1st degree murder case, a 1st degree murder reduced to aiding a felon, an acquittal at a jury trial on 1st degree murder, a rape charge reduced to a misdemeanor, acquittals for rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child, multiple drug case acquittals and dismissals, and dismissals/acquittals on just about every other variety of state and local crime.
